About Technology Beyond Disability | TechBDI
At Technology Beyond Disability Initiative (TechBDI), we believe technology is a right, not a privilege. Our nonprofit EduTech organization breaks down barriers to tech education for Deaf individuals, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and underrepresented women and girls.
Our programs empower women and girls in underrepresented communities through inclusive trainings in coding, creative design, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship, delivered using sign language interpretation and visual-first tools. We work with schools for the Deaf, rural communities, and underserved groups to ensure no one is left behind.
We stand out for our accessibility-first model, where disability is seen as a strength—not a limitation. Our goal is to create spaces where marginalized learners can grow into creators, innovators, and changemakers in tech.
Through our work with Technovation, we’ve mentored over 500 girls—including Deaf girls—to design mobile apps that solve community challenges. In partnership with Haptics Nigeria, we delivered the Google Digital Skills Training program, expanding digital literacy among youth across Nigeria.
To date, we’ve trained 100+ Deaf and underserved learners in digital skills and launched school- and community-based outreach to amplify impact at the grassroots.
Our mission aligns with the UN SDGs 4, 5, 8, and 10—advancing inclusive education, gender equality, decent work, and reduced inequalities.
We envision a world where Deaf girls lead tech startups, PWDs shape innovation, and youth in rural communities access digital opportunity.
Let’s build that inclusive future—together.
