Overview

About Autism Society Central Virginia

The Autism Society of Central Virginia's mission is to support, empower, and build connections to improve the lives of all in our local autism community. The Autism Society of Central Virginia (ASCV) is celebrating over 40 years of non-profit services, advocacy, and support to children, youth, and adults with autism, their families and the professionals who serve them. We are a local affiliate of the national Autism Society, founded in 1965. The ASCV believes that diversity, equity, and inclusion are critical components of a thriving community. We focus on helping people obtain what they need in order to get to a place where equity is possible in all aspects of their lives. We embrace the diversity of the communities we serve by providing programs and resources that are developed to meet the needs of all, regardless of race, ethnicity, language, religion, age, ability, sexual orientation, gender, or socioeconomic status. As an inclusive organization, we are guided by evidence-based practices, and promote neurodiversity, understanding that everyone thinks, learns, and interacts with the world in unique ways. We celebrate distinctive talents and acknowledge multiple perspectives within our autism community.
