About Aberdeen Institute of Insurance and Financial Planning
A warm welcome to the Aberdeen Institute members and future members
I am extremely proud & delighted to be elected as your President of the Aberdeen Local Institute for the CII, and I hope to continue the leadership and growth demonstrated by your past Presidents, in conjunction with an outstanding Council and I am delighted to report that in the annual review for 24/25 we achieved a score of 100%
One of my main focuses during my Presidency is to continue the exemplary work initiated by Kath to try and engage with the next generation of insurance professionals. We will by looking to establish a “mentoring/job shadow” programme between local higher education establishments and local insurance and financial planning businesses in our area.
This will demonstrate the vast range of career paths within the financial sector and the various ways to enter the professions
In line with this, one of the first actions for the current year is that we are putting forward a proposal to change the name of the Aberdeen Institute to the Aberdeen Institute of Insurance and Financial Planning at a Special General Meeting (SGM) that will be held on the 16th June - full details in our events page.
The new name will more accurately reflect the scope of our members' professional activities and highlights our inclusive support for both Financial Planning and General Insurance professionals.
We aim to continue with CPD events for our members with a variety of events throughout the year with a mix of webinars, plus hybrid and face to face events. We will also continue to organise social events which will include at least one Golf Day, a Race night and our annual Dinner, which is always an eagerly anticipated event. This will take place as normal, in early February.
Please continue to follow our LinkedIn page and if you have any question, queries or feedback, or you would like to volunteer for your local institute, please get in touch via this page.
