About The Oasis Centre
The Oasis Centre is simply a lifeline for many people. We are at the heart of Gorton, Manchester's most poverty-stricken area with a population of 36,000, in the bottom 1% of deprivation nationally.
Oasis is a place where people can walk in off the street and ask for help. We help hundreds of people each month struggling with homelessness, domestic violence, poverty and hunger, long-term unemployment, asylum and immigration issues, drug or alcohol addiction, physical and sexual abuse and mental health difficulties.
We are open five days a week and run an open-access community hub. Every morning before we open our doors, there is a queue of people waiting for crisis support. We provide over 2,500 free hot meals every month, structured support, advice, activities, education and a work club.
At Oasis we are driven by the belief that every single person matters.
