Overview

About The Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association

The Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) is a not-for-profit private sector trade association and one of the largest non-governmental organizations in Barbados. We represent a membership of over 300 tourism and tourism-related entities, both local and international, united by a shared commitment to strengthening Barbados’ tourism industry.

While we represent over 80% of the island’s total accommodation room stock, more than 60% of our members operate outside the accommodation sector. Our broad base includes restaurants, attractions, airlines, real estate agencies, tour operators, retailers, cruise service providers, media, public relations and advertising agencies, technology companies, consultants, suppliers, and students pursuing careers in tourism.

This diversity gives the BHTA a unique, cross-sector perspective on the tourism industry. We are a central voice for the sector, advocating for our members and working collaboratively with public and private stakeholders to address challenges, pursue opportunities, and shape the future of tourism in Barbados.

Our goal is clear: to facilitate the sustainable growth and development of our local tourism sector, to the benefit of our members, our country and the people of Barbados.

The BHTA remains committed to building a resilient, competitive, and future-ready tourism industry through consistent engagement, data-driven insight, and meaningful partnerships.
