About Deft Group
Deft identifies property-level vulnerabilities, consults over pathways to achieve a resilient baseline, and provides education over how to harden associations and property owners for the long-term through proactive planning and network collaboration.
Founded in 2018, Deft Group began its work in the property claims arena, delivering independent adjusting services for high-severity, technically complex losses. Through this early work, our team gained a ground-level understanding of how and why large property losses escalate which continues to inform our perspective today.
As our work matured, a more consequential gap became clear: many of the most severe and disputed losses stemmed from inadequate pre-loss documentation, fragmented risk strategies, and misalignment between property owners, insurers, and the built environment. This was particularly apparent in catastrophe-prone markets.
That insight led to the formation of Deft Risk, our property risk consulting arm. Deft Risk supports owners, operators, insurers, and underwriters with year-round property-level risk management, underwriting support, and post-loss triage. Our work spans exposure analysis, documentation, mitigation planning, network alignment, and capital prioritization designed to reduce loss severity, preserve insurability, and improve long-term outcomes.
In 2025, we expanded our platform with Deft Resilience, a curated network of vetted partners aligned around property-level resilience. Deft Resilience connects properties and network with qualified contractors, engineers, and specialists while advancing cross-sector education focused on resilient construction, sound governance, and disciplined risk transfer in high-hazard regions.
