About Tierpark Berlin

In former East Berlin, a short train journey from Alexanderplatz, lies Tierpark Berlin – Europe’s largest animal park! Set in 160 hectares of beautiful parkland around the historic palace Schloss Friedrichsfelde, Tierpark is home to animals from all over the world. And in 2020, it celebrated the opening of its remarkable new Rainforest House, with tigers, crocodiles and more.

Here, bathing polar bears, majestic herds of giraffes and exciting adventure playgrounds turn a walk in the park into a special experience for the whole family. There are close-up animal encounters with the walk-through Lemur Woods, the spectacular free-flight show, and the popular petting zoo. A little electric train is also on hand to pick up and drop off visitors at various stops around the Tierpark’s extensive grounds so there’s no need to miss a thing. And best of all, use of the train is included in the admission price!

Since its reopening in 2020, Tierpark Berlin’s venerable Alfred Brehm building has a brand-new look and now takes visitors on an expedition deep into the tropical rainforest. In surroundings that closely resemble the animals’ natural habitat, visitors can encounter tigers, leopards and rare tree kangaroos. In the walk-through Tropical Hall, narrow paths wind through lush vegetation, where brightly coloured birds sing their exotic songs and crocodiles laze by the water’s edge.
