About Technicians: We Make the Difference
'Technicians: We Make the Difference' is a campaign that engages young people with a wide range of technical roles, across many different sectors.
Young people can discover new careers, as well as the technical and vocational pathways into those jobs, by reading the stories of early-career technical staff, trying our role-finder quiz, or visiting 'Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery' at the Science Museum in London.
Teachers can order a free pack of printed resources, plus download lesson plans from our website.
Do you work in a technical field, or are you an employer of early-career technical staff? Get in touch to find out how you can support the campaign.

What is a technician?
Technicians are skilled professionals who use practical, technical know-how to solve problems, build and maintain essential systems, and keep things working in every part of the economy. They work in fields like healthcare, transport, media, science, energy, construction, and technology - often behind the scenes but always making a difference.
Technician careers are well-paid, in high demand, and often don’t require a university degree. Young people can become technicians through T-levels, apprenticeships, Higher Technical Qualifications, or hands-on training, gaining valuable skills and experience from day one.
