About Institute for Research Experiences & Education
ULRI's Institute for Research Experiences & Education is building the future of safety science.
We create learning pathways to discover the science of safety from research to standards rooted in how we understand, discover, and engineer a safer, more sustainable world.
Through open-access educational resources and research experiences at ULRI-ULSE, we help students learn alongside the experts to become the next generation of leaders in their field. We partner with higher education, other NGOs, and agencies to evaluate and understand the impact of our work, to ensure student voices inform our initiatives.
Through our global partnerships, we teach secondary to postgraduate learners about the science of safety and sustainability.
Research Experiences: Our pathway initiatives place secondary, postsecondary and postgraduate students into relevant and meaningful research assignments that provide interns with cutting-edge experiences and grow their identities as safety science professionals.
Education: We develop education platforms, like Xplorlabs, to bring together research and Next Generation Science Standards. This approach is led through an innovative digital platform that inspires critical thinking and problem-solving. Each pathway applies a STEM framework for our audience to solve real-world engineering challenges through a blended model of online interactives, videos, hands-on investigations, and classroom challenges.
In line with our mission to contribute to making the world a safer, more sustainable place, our education resources are offered without a fee and are entirely open access.
