UVA Anesthesiology

The UVA Department of Anesthesiology manages close to 60,000 cases in approximately 65 anesthetic locations, which include main operating rooms and an ambulatory surgical center. In addition, we staff 3 Intensive Care Units at UVA Health (TCVICU, NNICU, STICU). We have approximately 75 core faculty members specializing in cardiothoracic, critical care medicine, neuro, obstetric, pain medicine, pediatric and pediatric cardiac, transplantation, and regional services. Our faculty help train 60 ACGME residents annually ,12 fellows, and 3rd and 4th year medical students. Our department directs an American Society of Anesthesiology Medical Simulation Center and engages in a plethora of clinical and basic science research.
