Overview

About WRC

In 1974 five local Oceanside women came together after realizing the need for a “rape crisis” center in North San Diego County. The Police were inundated with Domestic Violence cases and felt there was a lack of services for the families in extreme danger, or ready to leave their abuser, so they reached out and asked WRC for help. This demand for services expanded our programs to include a safe place for domestic violence victims. We now have an emergency shelter and transitional house facility where families live with us for up to two years healing and rebuilding their lives after abuse. We serve 5,747 adults and children annually with our services ranging from free counseling, support groups, case management, community education, emergency food and clothing, emergency housing, 24 hour crisis hotline, legal assistance, court advocacy, sexual assault response team and many more.

At the highest level WRC believes ALL people deserve to live a life free from the crimes of domestic violence and sexual assault. By providing quality supportive services for victims, and through education and prevention for our community we believe we can stop the cycle of violence.

Together we can revive courage and empower the lives of survivors!
