xmade is an architectural firm based in Basel and Barcelona with international collaborators, focused on the design and materialization of the building envelope. Our main expertise lies in the implementation of both traditional and emerging materials and their corresponding construction processes.
xmade’s design methodology is shaped by the application of contemporary tools and methods. The aim is to harness the properties and capacities of building's materials to improve both aesthetics and performance. This leads to buildings provided with an innovative and contemporary character that, at the same time, are energy efficient and responsive to the natural environment.
Important to this process is the accurate study of the building’s context and its technical and economical constraints, which is the base for precise detailing.
