About Yafika Agri Ventures
Yafika Agri Venture is a social enterprise based in Mwanza, Malawi, founded by Thomas Chiwaula, a farmer and agripreneur driven by firsthand experience of the struggles smallholder farmers face daily. Our mission targets to transform the agricultural journey of last-mile smallholder farmers by addressing three critical barriers: lack of affordable access to quality inputs, financial exclusion, and unreliable markets.
At Yafika Agri Ventures provide the following:
1. Input Access Through Asset-Based Loans
We provide smallholder farmers with affordable, high-quality input bundles (fertilizer, certified seeds, and crop protection materials) on credit. This removes the heavy upfront cost burden. Inputs are sourced from certified suppliers meeting the national manufacturing standards and delivered directly to farming communities through trusted logistics partners.
2. Financial Literacy & Extension Support via Village Banks
Farmers are organized into Village Savings and Loan groups (VSLAs), where they receive financial literacy training, develop saving habits, and gain access to capital. These groups also serve as platforms for delivering hands-on agronomic training in modern and climate-smart practices:

- Crop rotation and mixed cropping
- Agroforestry and soil restoration
- Drought-resilient varieties and climate awareness
- Post-harvest storage and food security practices
4. Market Facilitation for Livelihood Growth
We link farmers to reliable and better-paying markets for their surplus produce. By aggregating outputs and negotiating fair prices, we ensure smallholders retain more value and increase their household income. This closes the loop from production to profit.
