Restoration of Gouray Church in Jersey Using Mapei System

A #Mapei system has been used to complete the #restoration of Gouray #Church in #Jersey. https://buff.ly/0qdtt8I

The project, which was carried out by Final #Properties, included the sympathetic #renovation of the church’s #masonry façade, internal #render and paintwork which had been damaged by water ingress.

Exposed to wind, rain and storms over many years, Gouray Church had suffered water ingress through its external masonry façade which had caused damage to the internal render and staining to the paintwork. As a consequence, Mapei was contacted by Normans for help with material recommendations for its sympathetic renovation. This included Mapei repair #mortar and render for the church façade, and mortar, render, #primer and #paint for the #interior walls.

During initial repairs to the church façade, Final Properties applied Antipluviol W – a transparent water repellent impregnator – to protect the render without altering appearance.

During the second stage of works, the team used Mape-Antique Rinzaffo Zero salt-resistant mortar to repair the damaged lime-based masonry internally and Mape-Antique NHL Eco Intonaco Zero – a breathable cement-free base render made from pure hydraulic lime and recycled material - to help protect walls from mould and bacteria formation.

“The Mapei products were fantastic to work with. Everything behaved very predictably with no surprises, which makes a huge difference on a job like this. The system went on really well, and I think the church has ended up with a very long-lasting repair, largely thanks to the quality of the products,” commented Tom Cook, from Final Properties.
