Precautionary Measures Taken for Ebola-Exposed Italian Surgeon Transfer

A "shout-out" to the Airport and Medical staff: To avoid spread of Ebola Virus, lots of precautions were taken on the apron before transferring an asymptomatic Italian surgeon who was working at Salamat Hospital in Bunia as part of the response effort.

The Italian Ministry of Health reports that efforts are underway to ensure the safe isolation of a surgeon who worked at the Salamat health center (Bunia-Ituri), in the Democratic Republic of Congo, during the current Ebola epidemic.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has asked the European Union to strengthen its coordinated border controls on people arriving from areas affected by the Ebola virus , the government announced Friday. "Italy believes that the epidemiological situation in Central Africa linked to the recent Ebola outbreak (...) in the Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC] and Uganda requires the utmost attention."
