This year’s #LaborDay theme is a powerful reminder that dignity, respect, and fairness are not privileges in the workplace, they are rights. But these values don’t begin when someone gets their first job; they are nurtured from childhood.
At Joy for Children Uganda, we recognize that protecting #childrights today is the foundation for a healthier, more just workforce tomorrow. Children who grow up in safe, supportive environments, free from violence, exploitation, and neglect, are more likely to become confident, emotionally resilient adults. They carry forward values of empathy, respect, and accountability into their workplaces and communities.
When we invest in children’s well-being, we are actively shaping the future of #work. A child who is heard becomes an adult who listens. A child who is protected becomes an adult who respects boundaries. A child who is empowered becomes an adult who contributes meaningfully to a positive and safe psychosocial working environment.
As we mark #LaborDay, let’s remember: the journey to decent work begins long before employment. It begins with ensuring every child’s right to safety, education, participation, and dignity is upheld.
Because protecting children today means transforming workplaces tomorrow.
