A lot of people assume that if they are listed on a Certificate of Insurance, they will automatically be notified if the policy cancels.
That may not be true.
A COI may include cancellation wording, but the certificate itself usually does not create rights that are not actually in the policy. If the policy does not require notice to you, the COI may not magically create that obligation.
A COI is a snapshot. It is not a guarantee of future coverage.
