Nobody outside my industry has ever heard of the companies I built my career in. Yet I had my first board seat within 30 days of trying.
When I started this journey two years ago , what I had was 18+ years of building things, fixing things, and knowing how to add value in a room full of people trying to figure out the same problems I’ve already solved.
👉🏽 That was enough to land a board seat.
This didn’t happen because I had a C-suite title, knew somebody who knew somebody, spent $$$$ on a readiness certification programme, or joined another panel on diversity on Boards.
It happened through a community of people who understood that
the experience you’ve spent your career building is already the qualification.
What you’re missing is somewhere to use it.
So after two years of buiding Boardroom impact alongside some of them, I got on a flight to meet these people in person last week.
Everyone in this photo is between 6 months and 2 years into their board journey. Between 2 and 6 seats each.
And every single one of us had a completely different picture of what great looks like three years from now.
The journey is yours.
But you don’t have to figure it out alone.
PS: If you’d like to learn more about how I and others in this photo landed our board seats, join me this Thursday. Details below 👇🏽
