Dr. Jorge A. González-Martínez is featured in the Spring 2026 issue of Pitt Med Magazine for his work on personalized deep brain stimulation for medication-resistant epilepsy.
In a study published in Nature Communications, his team at Pitt and UPMC tailored DBS targeting to each patient's brain wiring. Patients who received long-term implants saw seizures drop by nearly 90 percent on average, with some becoming seizure-free for months at a time.
