Sending a report card home makes a parent an observer.

Sending a report card home makes a parent an observer.
Empowering them with the tools to change that grade makes them a partner.

We often complain that parents aren't involved enough in their child's academics.
But if we are honest, our traditional systems like sending home a reading log for a signature or a folder of graded worksheets on a Friday don't really invite partnership.
They simply ask parents to manage compliance.

When families are treated merely as an audience for their child’s education, they disengage.
True learning partnerships happen when we give parents a seat at the instructional table and the practical tools they need to extend learning into the living room.
