Harmonizing Africa's Development: Integrating Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063

Africa is committed to two complementary but distinct development frameworks. Agenda 2030 establishes 17 #SustainableDevelopmentGoals with a 2030 deadline - an urgent sprint toward measurable outcomes. #Agenda2063 articulates #Africa's long-term vision - a 50-year journey toward prosperity, integration, and peace.

Current status: 53% continental progress on Agenda 2063; 19 African countries presented Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2026.

The challenge: when pursued separately, these frameworks create fragmented national planning, duplicated budgets, and unclear accountability.

The result: slower progress toward both immediate and long-term goals.

The solution: integrated national development plans that demonstrate how #SDG targets align with and advance Agenda 2063 outcomes.

This requires one consolidated development strategy, one unified budget framework, and one coordinated monitoring mechanism. In practice, Years 1–4 accelerate progress on SDG targets while laying the infrastructure for long-term growth. Years 5–15 build manufacturing capacity and regional integration. Years 15–50 realise continental vision.

At HLPF 2026, African nations presented evidence of this integration, demonstrating how urgent action (2030) and long-term vision (2063) reinforce each other.
