It's a process problem — and it starts with how the pocket opening is made.
Blade-cut pocket openings carry an inherent positioning variance of ±1.5–2mm.
At the zipper attachment stage, that variance determines whether the pull tab sits flush with the panel seam — or 2mm off.
2mm doesn't sound like much.
On a $280 trail jacket, it's the difference between a product that looks engineered and one that looks assembled.
LAYO has integrated laser perforation and automated zipper insertion into a single production cycle.
CO2 laser cutting holds ±0.3mm slot tolerance on ripstop nylon, TPU laminate, and bonded constructions.
Zipper tape is fed and attached without panel repositioning — eliminating the hand-off variance entirely.
