Strategic Foresight on Nuclear Futures: A Roadmap for Policymakers
Last week, the 2026 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference ended without a consensus outcome document, the latest sign that the multilateral frameworks we have long relied on to govern #nuclear #risk are under serious strain. 🌐
The divisions on display in New York are exactly why forward-looking thinking matters more than ever. Today, foraus is publishing "Nuclear Futures for a Better Tomorrow" by Shari Goy, Luana Nava, Maximilian Rau, a strategic foresight Project Brief that asks not what went wrong yesterday, but what kind of nuclear world we want to build by 2050. 🔭
Drawing on expert interviews, scenario development, and a youth foresight workshop at the Swiss Embassy in London, the project brief maps four plausible futures #Growth, #Collapse, #Discipline, and #Transformation and invites policymakers, practitioners, and the next generation to take an active role in shaping which path we take.
🔍 What it covers:
🔹A structured risk & opportunity analysis across six thematic areas: politics, economy, climate, health, public perception, and technology
🔹A replicable #methodology: from expert interviews using the "7 Questions" technique to scenario stress-testing with young professionals
📄Read the full Brief here:
💡Working on nuclear policy? This workshop methodology could be highly replicable to your work – we would be happy to hear from you!
🧠This publication is the outcome of the #NGFP programme of the School of International Futures. We want to thank the NGFP community, the #Swiss Embassy in London, and countless young expert voices for their many ideas, reflections, and suggestions.
