Bushel Boy Tomatoes: Minnesota's Local Grocery Icon Vanishes

🍅🛒
Minnesota lost a grocery-store icon and somehow it feels personal.

Bushel Boy tomatoes were one of those little “yep, that’s local” staples — the kind you’d toss in the cart without overthinking it. But according to Victor Stefanescu at the Minnesota Star Tribune, the brand’s disappearance came after a nasty greenhouse virus, a sale, and a whole lot of ag-business reality.

The wild stat? Brown rugose fruit virus can reduce greenhouse yield by up to 70%. That is not a tomato problem. That is a full-blown “Minnesota food supply chain just got humbled” problem.

The greenhouses are still alive under new ownership, but Bushel Boy as we knew it? Different deal.

Did you notice they disappeared from the produce aisle? 🍅
