Complex Facade Shading for Prague's Florentinum with TESS™ 400

Some installations require abseiling. That usually means the architecture is doing something very interesting.

Prague's largest office building has a large curved glass facade. The Florentinum covers 49,000 square metres of central Prague. Its defining feature is a sweeping glass curve, designed by Jakub Ciglar to mark a new chapter for a long neglected part of the city.

Standard systems couldn't follow the curved geometry. A fixed angle installation would have compromised both the facade's integrity and its thermal performance.

Our TESSTM 400 external system was engineered for precisely this kind of problem. Relieving rollers allow the fabric to follow the curve. Ultra thin cable maintains tension across varying chord lengths. The shading reinforces the architecture with a heat shield on high glare days days yet invisible on every other.
